“Cellaring Wine of the Week
2006 Peregrine Ridge Winemaker’s Reserve – Shiraz
* * * * * (5 stars)
Blue fruits – blackberry and dark plum, bay leaf, white pepper all abound in this rich, and surprisingly (for all that) refined, shiraz … a lovely example of what Heathcote shiraz should be, and deserving of a price tag so rarely earned. Richly layered, but finely textured, palate with hints of chocolate, cedar, leather and spice with more (advantageous) development under cork, but more potential under screw cap. And this wine deserves several more years as the fruit concentration and oak need to marry and live happily – if not forever, at least for a while.

JAMES HALLIDAY AUSTRALIAN WINE COMPANION 2011 Edition
Bright colour; quite dark and savoury aromas with leather, spice and chocolate framing red and blue fruit; the palate is very fresh, and belies the slightly forward nature of the bouquet; bright acid, and fine, almost slippery, tannins on the finish.
