Peregrine Ridge won two trophies and two gold medals at the 2012 Daylesford Wine Show.
Peregrine Ridge won the trophy for Best Sparkling Wine with its Non-Vintage Sparkling Shiraz. The sparkling wine class included both red and white sparkling wines and in what was a real coup, a sparkling red took out the trophy. Sue Kerrison said “the style is inspired by the great sparkling burgundies of Australia. It’s a great drink, especially as we lead into the festive season. The wine is a perfect accompaniment to fruit mince pies, fruit cake and shortbread.” The trophy for the Best Sparkling Wine was sponsored by Baird & McGregor, Lawyers, Daylesford.
The Non-Vintage Sparkling Shiraz also finished 3rd at the 2012 Australian Sparkling Wine Show.
Peregrine Ridge make their Sparkling Shiraz in the traditional method and aim to keep their wines on lees for an extended period. This wine style melds the bright Heathcote fruit with complexing bottle fermentation characteristics.
Peregrine Ridge also won the trophy for the Best Shiraz or Shiraz Blend at the 2012 Daylesford Wine Show with its 2009 American Oak Blend Heathcote Shiraz. The American Oak Blend showcases the use of fine grain American Oak and is a really delightful wine with great cellaring potential. The trophy for the Best Shiraz or Shiraz Blend is sponsored by The Farmers Arms Hotel, Daylesford. This wine has not yet been released.
