Peregrine Ridge has just won another gold medal for its 2009 American Oak Blend Heathcote Shiraz, this time at the 2013 Ballarat Wine Show where it was the highest scoring wine in its class – Class 45, Dry Red Wine – Shiraz, Victorian Section. The judges noted that this was “a good class with three strong wines, but with others lacking fruit or showing weedy characters”. Now, you wouldn’t find those characters in a Peregrine Ridge wine!
This award complements the trophy our 2009 American Oak Blend won last year for the Best Shiraz or Shiraz Blend at the 2012 Daylesford Wine Show. It has also won gold medals at the 2012 Daylesford Wine Show and the 2012 Riverina Wine Show. We will be releasing this wine at the Heathcote Wine and Food Festival next weekend so make sure you pop in and say hello and have a taste!
Our American Oak Blend showcases the use of fine grain American Oak and is a really delightful wine with great cellaring potential. It is intense, refined and elegant. Matured in 58% new and 42% second use American oak barriques for 21 months prior to bottling, it is definitely going to appeal to those lovers of our American Oak Blend.
